Candidates for a Florida Real Estate License have two tests that they must pass before the initial license will be issued by the state. The first is a class test that is administered at the end of the 63-hour pre-licensing course. The second, is the state exam that is administered by a state approved testing vendor.

Both tests are 100 question multiple choice tests. The 100 questions are made up of 45 Principle and Practice questions, 45 Law questions, and 10 math questions.

One of the best tips that we can offer in is avoid preventable mistakes by following a simple format with each question. Start by reading the entire question, then read all four possible answers, the re-read the question and ask yourself " What are they really asking me?" Then choose the best answer.

Practice with the calculator that you plan to use on test day. This way you will feel comfortable with it and it won't add any extra stress.

Scrap paper is free at the state exam. Ask for all you need. You must turn it all in with your test but you can make notes, draw diagrams, and work math problems with the paper.

Study the things that you are most afraid of forgetting just before you enter the test center, then write it down on your scrap paper as soon as the test begins.

The state exam is given on a backlit computer terminal (pictured at the right). The test room will remain with a lowered light level. There will be plenty of light to take your test so don't worry about this when you first enter the test room.

Many people haven't taken tests like this in a long time. The best advise that we can offer is to study the material and eliminate as much fear or worry as possible. If you would be embarrassed telling your friends or family that you didn't pass on the first attempt, then don't tell them when you are going for the test.

Pay attention in class, work the questions at the back of each chapter, ask questions about concepts that you don't understand, study the material, and don't worry. You can do this.
