Hi, My name is Jeff Weinland. I am
the owner and chief instructor of the Wishing Well School of Real
Estate, (AKA TimeshareSchool.com). Let me be the first to congratulate
you on the decision to embark on a new career. Whether you choose the
vacation ownership industry or a more traditional approach to real
estate, I am sure that you will find that opportunities are
plentiful for professionals licensed to practice real estate.
Now that you have decided to get a
real estate license, you must select a licensed real estate school so
that you can take the appropriate pre-license course. As you can
imagine selecting the right school is important because you will be
spending 63 hours there to qualify for the state license. There are
many things to consider when selecting the right school. Tuition and
extra costs, location, class size, text book, and teaching style are
all important issues. Because of this I felt it was important to
include this information below.
Tuition and extra costs -
The tuition cost listed next to each of our courses is the all
inclusive cost to take the course. This includes the text book, all
hand-outs, study sheets, the required number of hours of classroom
instruction, a proctored class test and a proctored class re-test (if
necessary). We also provide a notebook, a pen, a highlighter, and a
basic 4-function calculator. There are no other required class
materials that you will be asked to purchase. (State licensing fees
and testing fees are paid directly to the state or the state's testing
vendor and are not included.)
Location - Our classes are
held in a relaxed setting. We sit in comfortable chairs around a
traditional conference room table. Restrooms and vending machines are
located on-site for your convenience.
Class size - Most students
that choose this school do so because of our one-on-one or one-on-two
instructional format. Our classes
vary in size between 4 and 8 students. These option ensures that each student
get the attention that they need to succeed.
Textbook - The Gaines &
Coleman Florida Real Estate Principles, Practices & Law textbook by
Linda L. Crawford is currently in it's 27th edition. It is one of the
best real estate texts on the market and provides an easy to follow
structure. The 27th edition has been recently updated and include all
of the changes to the law that took effect in July 2003.
Teaching style - I believe
in a very relaxed learning environment. When I teach, I will identify
the important points in the text so that students can highlight them
for later review and then I discuss each point. I use stories,
examples, and illustrations to ensure that each student understands
the concept. After teaching each chapter, I give the students an
opportunity to answer the questions at the end of each chapter. Then I
review the answers and discuss any missed questions. After all
chapters are complete, I provide review material and help students
prepare for the testing process.
I hope this information is helpful
in your decision in selecting the most appropriate school for
beginning your new career. If we can be of any further service please
do not hesitate to call.
